Community members contribute on average over 1,600 hours of planning for their projects. Projects range from increasing access to education and clean water to projects rebuilding orphanages and sustainable latrines. Spark facilitators help to instigate discussion amongst a community about the goals of the community, and possible solutions are brought together with skills training to ensure communities take ownership of improvements they seek. Spark MicroGrants began its work in Rwanda in 2010 and has rapidly scaled across Rwanda, Uganda, and Burundi. Spark has over 90 community partners today.
